August fast became my favorite month for weddings. Here in the Upper Peninsula we have a small window of "you're guaranteed good weather" if what you’re looking for is 70s and sunny. This last wedding season we began our August of weddings with a double hitter. I was Chatum with Udy and Eric and Ashley was in Marquette with Brinn and Derek.

Brinn and her gals got ready at the Landmark Inn in Marquette. Brinn gave the gals a twirl to show off her dress and everyone was in awe!
I love photographing the details of the day. It can be easy to forget what you wore and why. Having a photo to look back on reminds you of the importance of why you chose to wear those items.

All the small details that Brinn was wearing for the big day. Her mom helped her put on her jewelry and was smiling from ear to ear. Hugs were plentiful.
BD_117Taking it all in.
Afterwards, we headed across the street to the the iconic Peter White Public Library where we captured some more "ooh's and ahh's" and just enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Her bridesmaids all shared in the enjoyment. I loved the different pink flowers in the bouquets!

Brinn and Derek had their ceremony at the Marquette Regional History Center. Their reception followed inside of the center. BD_318I've never seen two people smile so much while putting their rings on each other.
I loved the arch they had for their ceremony. It matched the girls flowers and dresses perfectly. BD_320Sealed with a kiss!
Where do you head to for bridal party photos? Lake Superior of course! It's hard not to find a gorgeous backdrop for photos where we live. The lake is always sought after and it was only a few minutes away from the History Center. BD_378Celebrating with the bridal party down by the oredock off of Lake Superior.
Pinks, golds, black, and petals filled the reception area. I love the History Center as a place for receptions. The best thing is the bottom level is filled with all windows letting so much natural light in. And the top level can be accessed to look down on the reception area.
BD_406Reception inside the Marquette Regional History Center BD_408I loved the gold, pink, and black theme going on. It was so elegant. BD_423A gorgeous tiered cake with cascading flowers that matched the reception hall and the flowers from the bouquet. BD_414I'm a sucker for these signs! The painted flowers and gold writing fitted the rest of the reception so perfectly. BD_481In the upper level of the Marquette Regional History Center. Such a gorgeous backdrop!
Brinn and Derek enjoyed their first dance together as their friends all gathered on the top level to watch on. It was a really sweet moment. Do you notice the name of the hall? How sweet right?!
BD_548The bridal party gathered together to watch their friend's enjoy their first dance as husband and wife. BD_583Derek's mom gives him a hug after their 'mother/son' dance.
Derek's mother joined the dance floor afterwards for the "mother/son" dance. While dancing, the music changed to "Du Hast" by Rammstein. It was something his mother had planned as a surprise. Everyone loved it! Afterwards they shared a hug and the rest of the guests and bridal party danced the night away.
